How To Check-Out Books

To check-out come to the circulation desk with your items along with your Taft College ID card.                        

All students must present their Taft College issued ID card in order to check-out any library materials. No Exceptions. 

 

 

Taft college library lending and fine policy, Type Stacks main collection, Patron students, loan period 3 weeks, renewal once, fine is $0.10 per day until the fine reaches the cost of the book, limit 10 items. Type stacks main collection, patron type faculty & staff, Loan Period 1 semester, renewal once, fine none, limit 10 items. type stacks main collection, patron type public, loan period 3 weeks, renewal once, fine $0.10 per day until fine reaches the cost of the book, limit 3 items. Type Magazines, patron type all patrons, loan period in library use only, no renewals, no fines, limit 0. Type reserve collection, Patron type students, faculty & staff, loan period 2 hours, renewal once, fine $1.00 per hour $24.00 maximum fine, limit 3 items. type DVD collection, patron students, loan period 1 week, renewal once, fine $1.00 per hour until the fine reaches the cost of the DVD, limit 10 items. When using a credit card at the library kiosk you must place a minimum of $1.00. fine procedures. students who generate a fine in excess of $1.00 will have a hold placed on their student account. the library accepts cash or credit card payments, which can be made at the circulation desk. students will pay any fines due, as well as the replacement cost of the item before the hold will be released.

Library Items are available for renewal if:

Items can be renewed:

  • Renewal limit has not been reached
  • At the Circulation Desk by presenting your Taft College ID card
  • There are no outstanding holds on the item
  • By calling the Circulation Desk at (661) 763-7707
  • Your account has not been blocked due to billed items or excessive fines
  • Online through your My Library Account

Below is an example of how to renew your books online.

Step 1.

Step 1 image type in your A # in the username box and enter your password in the password box.

step 2. click on the my library account link in the upper right corner.

 

Step 3.

step 3 click on the renew button in the far right side of each item you have checked out.

You can place holds for items online by signing into your My Library Account from the library's online catalog.

 

 

 

Once you are signed in do a search for the book you wish to place a hold on. Click on the place hold button. 

 

Select the dates you would like to receive the book by and any additional notes or details before clicking on submit.
