Course Reserve Textbooks
The Library offers free access to many textbooks through our Course Reserve Collection. We have physical (print) and digital (electronic) textbooks. Physical copies of Course Reserve textbooks can be checked out for up to 2 hours for in-library use only, meaning these books must stay in the library. If there are no requests from other students for the same book, you may renew the loan twice. Please return the textbook to the Circulation Desk on time to avoid a late fee of $1 for each hour it is late. Please see our Fines & Fees page for more details.
Digital Course Reserve textbooks can be accessed from the Library catalog and downloaded onto a personal device, such as a tablet, mobile phone, or computer. A digital textbook is free and will remain on your device until it is deleted or the subscription expires.
To find out if the Library has a course reserve textbook for a class, follow the instructions below.
To check out a physical textbook, present your Student ID card at the Circulation Desk and provide the title of the book and the Course number. Library staff will retrieve the book for you.
Locating Physical Course Reserve Textbooks
On the Library's home page, click on the Course Reserves link in the middle of the screen below the OneSearch box.
You can search for a textbook by using the name of the course, the course number, or the instructor's name. For example, type the name of the class, e.g. biology, in the box and hit enter or click on the magnifying glass on the right side of the box.
Note: You are searching for textbooks in the Course Reserves collection only.
The results will be all the textbooks available for ALL biology courses. To narrow the results, use the filters on the left side of the page to select the Course Instructor or Course Name and Code.
Locating Digital Course Reserve Textbooks
Follow the directions above to locate a digital textbook in the Course Reserve Collection.
The results will indicate if a textbook is available online.
Click Available Online to access the textbook.
To open the textbook, click view full text.
Note: The course number, name, and instructor(s) are listed under Details.
The textbook will open in a new window. Digital textbooks come in many different styles and formats. Follow the instructions on the screen to open, view, or download the textbook to your personal device.
