Research Assignment:

You will write a 5-6 page paper response on The Civil Rights Movement that will incorporate readings, lectures, and class discussions on the topic. You must also use library resources to find 3 to 4 outside sources. These sources can be books, articles, primary sources, etc. Your sources must be scholarly sources--academic journal articles and books written by experts in the field are considered scholarly sources.  You must cite 2 examples from your textbook, primary sources, and at least 3 sources from library research.  Check out the Types of Sources guide for more details about primary and secondary sources.

Essay Questions:


Choose a specific group of people and their struggle for Civil Rights (African Americans, Chicanos/Mexican Americans, Native Americans)


Choose a movement such as the Anti-war Movement, Women's Rights Movement, etc.


Discuss how the fight for Civil Rights impacted social groups in the 1950s and 1960s, how did the fight for Civil Rights in the United States Create social change?  What struggles did these people face during those challenging times?
