Research Assignment

Choose a famous person in US History after 1877 and before 2001 who made a historical impact. Write a research paper that discusses a cause and effect, turning point, view of history through the lens of a specific group, a biography of a famous person, oral history, or museum/monument.

Resources

  • Four (4) scholarly sources: books, articles, websites
  • Include primary sources
  • Use subject encyclopedias to get background information (does not count as one of your sources, but can be used as an additional source)
  • Websites from .org, .gov, or .edu only

Formatting

Your paper is to follow the Chicago/Turabian Style and include an annotated bibliography.  Please see the Chicago/Turabian Style Guide tab on the far right of this guide.

  • 6 - 10 pages
  • 1" margins
  • size 12 font, preferably in Times New Roman or Ariel
  • Double space
  • Header with last name and page number
  • Use Chicago/Turabian citation style for bibliography
  • Include notes
