The information on the following tabs of this guide will help you identify keywords for your topic, find and evaluate different types of sources, and cite your sources.

For additional help using library resources, explore the library's Library Research Skills guide

For writing help, see the Taft College Learning Center for information about getting help from a writing tutor.

Presentations

Individual presentations to the class on your chosen short story.  Read and know your short story well so that you can relate your supporting sources to those topics.  The presentation is to include a summary of three sources that you plan to use in your longer essay. The presentation should be one minute on each of three sources or a combination of three summaries that adds up to approximately three minutes.

Research Paper

A paper that analyzes one of these short stories:

"Araby"

"Eveline"

"The Boarding House"

"A Painful Case"

"Grace"

"The Dead"

You will use your short story as your primary source, and you will need a minimum of three secondary resources to support your argument.  Check out the Types of Sources guide for more details about primary and secondary sources.
